Justin Bieber’s Skincare Routine Is Surprisingly Down-To-Earth
Justin Bieber is a walking vessel of surprises. When we think of him what normally comes up is anything from a singer, dancer, player, or even a brat. The road has been rocky for Bieber at times, but whether his version of “Despacito” makes you turn the radio up or off, he continues to win fame and success.
The latest surprise is something that should speak to all his lovers and haters equally. The artist uploaded, to the amazement of many, his skincare routine onto Instagram. Biebs described to his many fans in a series of Instavideos, his remarkably short and simple routine to help keep acne at bay: “I simply use a Clarisonic brush and then I use this, uh, Christie Kidd cleanser” Bieber said. He doesn’t stop there: “And then I wash that bad boy off and use a little bit of sunscreen.”
I simply use a Clarisonic brush and then I use this, uh, Christie Kidd cleanser and then I wash that bad boy off and use a little bit of sunscreen.
Here is the breakdown for the groomingly-challenged: The “Clarisonic brush” Bieber is using is an automatic handheld circular brush that rotates, meant to be used for a deep facial cleanse. He pumps his Christie Kidd cleanser onto the brush, and then applies to his face, “I put a little bit of this on a little bit of this, and I go shablam all over the dome.”
Shablam indeed: what you are left with is a clean and smooth complexion, which comes from the combination of the brush’s dual exfoliation and cleansing abilities, and the quality of the cleanser.
Next he applied his sunscreen, Elta MD SPF, onto dry skin. This is the major takeaway: we need to protect our skin, not just so it’ll look good for this weekend, but so we can grace into old age like [insert old age celebrity who is your goal]. Without trying to sound preachy or naggy, we’ve got to make sure we cover ourselves.
Justin Bieber has a notorious reputation for not thinking ahead. He has spit on fans from a balcony, peed into a mop bucket while being filmed by friends, and even had to abandon his pet monkey in Germany after failing to produce the proper documentation.
In his defense, Bieber has been trying to clean his image of these gaffes, and we should give him the chance to do so. What we should learn is: even if we haven’t been on top of our game in self-care, Justin’s mature skincare routine should have us considering our own.
You don’t have to go full American Psycho’s Patrick Bateman skincare routine (or Patrick Bateman anything for that matter), but just keep it simple by keeping it clean and covering up when in the sun.
In true Justin Bieber character, he ends the video saying “I wouldn’t take anything I just said seriously.” Despite just giving great grooming advice, he had to punch the cake before putting on the cherry.
While it might take a while before we can call Bieber a proper role model, we will give him credit where it’s due: This is a skincare route worth following. Thanks, Biebs.
