Trending News: Watch The Mountain Crush A 1,000+ Pound Deadlift
Long Story Short
The Mountain just set a new world record at the 2018 Arnold Strongman Classic… because of course he did.
When he’s not filming Game of Thrones, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, a.k.a. The Mountain, is lifting really, really, heavy things. While paying off in Westeros under the thumb of Queen Cersei Lannister, The Mountains talents are also a gift to Planet Earth where he continues to establish himself as one of the strongest men on the planet.
At the Arnold Strongman Classic, a competition named after — who else — Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Mountain did a 1,041-pound deadlift.

The Icelandic bodybuilder posted about the feat, admitting that he’s proud of himself (it’s always good to pat yourself on the back from time to time).
The Mountain also won the Bag Over Bar competition with a 95-pound sandbag throw, according to Men’s Health. That’s just five pounds short of his own world record set last year.
There won’t be any relaxing after this one. Next up, he’s got the Europe’s Strongest Man competition in April and finally the World’s Strongest Man on May 5, where he will hope to regain the title from Englishman Eddie Hall.
