We Need To Talk About Kevin Hart’s Sex Tape Scandal
Long Story Short
Kevin Hart messed up — royally — by cheating on his pregnant wife. But we can all learn from how he handled this sh*tty situation.
If this is the first you’re hearing of Kevin Hart’s sex scandal, you’re probably thinking: ‘Ah crap, not him, too.’
But yes, it’s true. Kevin Hart, the lovable comedian who’s full of smiles yet short in feet and inches, was caught cheating on his pregnant wife Eniko Hart.
TMZ published a video showing Hart and an unnamed woman (not his wife) in a “sexually provocative situation.” It also showed “sexual activity on a bed, although you don’t see who is in the bed.”
Hart said the owner of the sex tape threatened to extort him for as much as eight figures, but he won’t pay. Instead, Hart made an apology video posted yesterday to Instagram which explains how sorry he is to his pregnant wife and kids.
The apology video has been seen over three million times and he seems genuinely sorry.
Meanwhile, the FBI is investigating the extortion attempt and allegedly has a suspect. No word on whether the suspect is the woman involved, though.
Here’s how Hart explains his behavior:
“You can always try to find something that’s better—a bigger ass or some breasts—but that never ends. So when you do find something that stimulates you on a mental and physical and emotional level, at this age what else do I need? She understands. When I say I’ve got a good one, I’ve got a good one. A logical, thinking woman. Do you understand how hard that is? To get a woman that can think on a logistic, like, term?”
And here’s why he’s done with cheating:
“I wouldn’t be a good cheater right now because I don’t feel like I can trust you to cheat. So you wouldn’t want to cheat with me because I would be questioning you…it’s too much, there is no sanity that comes with it, so why risk it? What am I gonna throw it all away for?”
So what can we learn from this?
Well, I think his comments are pretty accurate. Just because you’re in a relationship, doesn’t mean you’re not going to have a wandering eye. Still, you’ve gotta remember what it is that you want.
Second, I think the way he handled it was admirable. It would have been easy for Hart to pay for the video or just deny, deny, deny — as some guys do. And while infidelity was a super dick thing to do, especially while your wife is pregnant, he came out ahead with a humble apology that seems genuine. Don’t B.S. guys.
The only thing I want to know is: how old was this tape? Was he keeping it quiet for days, months, or even years before the extortion happened? And then, when it was going to come out, that’s when he decided to respond? Admitting to cheating is extremely tough, so before we give him props we have to know how long he kept it quiet for.
Either way, I think Hart is too big to fail, as it were. Cheating on his wife won’t end his extremely successful career, no matter if he lied about it for a while or not. It might end his relationship, though.
