Here’s How Many Dates You Should Go On Before Jumping Into Bed
Long Story Short
How many dates should you wait before getting it on? According to a new survey, way too many.
So you’ve gone on a few dates and you’re thinking of moving things to the bedroom, as per the three-date rule. Well, forget that because according to a new survey, both women and men expect things to go way longer before escalating to the bedroom.
Groupon initiated a survey of 2,000 men and women and found that women like to wait nine dates before having sex, while men prefer to wait five.
“People aiming for a relationship like to take their time to go on a number of dates and build a connection, which is why picking the right type of activity is an important consideration in the date planning process,” Guido Torrini, VP and GM of Groupon+ told the New York Post.
Call me an impatient millennial, call me eager, call me whatever you want, but am I the only one who thinks that anything beyond four dates is a waste of time? Who the hell has the hours in a day to physically meet nine times before you find out if you have sexual chemistry or not?
The survey revealed some other surprising facts from the participants about dating in 2017. Just one in six “always” kiss on the first date and only 3% of women said they initiate the first kiss.
But wait, there’s more. One out of seven people ghosted their dates midway through a date by pretending to go to the bathroom and never came back.
So let’s say you waited before hitting the sack — or not — and you managed to lock someone down (for cuffing season, perhaps). Then don’t get too comfortable because the coast is far from clear. According to the survey, 30% of people said they keep someone else as a backup if their current relationship doesn’t work.
Wow… Just, wow.
If you haven’t given up on dating altogether, here are some first date ideas revealed by the survey:
- Dinner at a restaurant
- Movie theater
- Drink at a bar
- Meet at a coffee shop
- Outdoor activity
- Sightseeing around the city
- Comedy club
